Overview

CalGrows is a California Department of Aging (CDA) program designed to support caregivers of older adults and people with disabilities by improving their skills through in-person classes and online training courses and up to $6,000 in
rewards payments. Visit https://www.calgrows.org/ for more information.

CalGrows is eligible to all Home Care Aides that work for Nu Care for at least 60 days.

The $6,000 can be earned by completing both of the following 2 tracks:

Tracks Incentives

1.    Learn and Earn Program

a.  Level 1: Learn up to 50 hours of courses up to $1,500

Must work for Nu Care for 60 days before enrolling

Once you have claimed 15 hours of courses, you are eligible to claim your Level 2 Bonus

b.  Level 2: Learn another 15 hours up to $500

Must continue to work for Nu Care

c.  Level 3: work 40 hours a month for v3 months $500

Must continue to work for Nu Care

 

2.    Career Builder Program

a.  Level 1: learn 15 – 30 hours of Career Builder courses up to $1,000

Must work for Nu Care for 60 days before enrolling

You can enroll in this Track 2 together with Track 1

b.  Level 2: work 40 hours in last month $500

Must continue to work for Nu Care

c.  Level 3: work 40 hours a month for 5 months $2,000

The CalGrows program will expire August 31, 2024, and all claims must be submitted before August 31 2024.
All incentives are claimed at the CalGrows web site (https://app.bybeam.co/calgrows/eligibility) and all incentive bonus is taxable.

 

Instructions

1.    Go to the Calgrows Get Paid website: https://www.calgrows.org/get-paid

2.    Look at Track 1: Learn and Earn Program

3.    Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on VIEW TRACK 1 COURSES

4.    On the left-hand side, select Incentive Track: Track 1: Learn and Earn

5.    Course Registration Status: Select Open

6.    Topics: Choose any topic that you are interested in or leave it blank

7.    Training Formats: Choose Online (Self-Paced)

8.    Course Languages: Choose whatever language you are comfortable with

9.    Scroll back up, right above where you selected incentive track, click on Apply Filters

**Several hundred courses will show you the title, format, language, format and length**

10. Choose a course and click on View Course. Scroll down and select register.

11. How To Register will pop up

12. Follow the instructions on how to register. Each course may have a different registration process.

 

13. Take and complete the course. After completing each course, you will get a certificate. You will need to save or print each certificate. The certificate is proof of course completion and you will need to upload it later in order to submit a claim for payment. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

Eligibility:


You must have been employed as a paid Direct Care Worker* for the last 60 days


You must work in home- and community-based settings


You must provide care to older adults and people with disabilities


You must be employed by a non-IHSS employer (including private individuals)

(Nu Care will provide the proof for the
above)


You
must live in California


Note
– Most IHSS providers do not qualify.

The progressive
incentive system encourages you to advance your training and develop your
career in your own time, at your own pace.

 


Take
courses first, then apply for incentives

Track 1: Learn and Earn
Level

Level 1: Learn Incentive:
$30/hour, Up to $1500

Claim up to 50 hours of Learn and Earn
courses

 

Requirements


Proof of employment
as a direct care worker in a home or community based setting for 60 days prior to enrolling in a course


Proof of completed Learn and Earn courses


Courses must be
offered through the Learn and Earn track to qualify; the course description on
calgrows.org must state, “This course if part of the Track 1: Learn and
Earn”

* Once you have claimed 15 hours of courses, you are eligible to claim your Level 2 Bonus

 

Level 2: Learn Bonus Incentive:
$500

After claiming 15 hours or more of Level
1 Learn and Earn courses, apply for the one-time Level 2 Bonus

Level 2: Practice Incentive:
$500

Claim an additional
$500 for working 40 hours in the last month

       Claim Career Builder

       Worked as a direct care
worker at least 40 hours a month for 5 additional months, for a total of 6
months between Levels 2 and 3

       The month during which
you take your first course qualifies as your first month of work for incentives
